View Full Version : Just curious...

Let me start off with that this isn't a debate or argument of whether it is good or not or why. I was just curious if anyone felt the same as I do that PM is better without the auto update train/meditate.
I see the pro's and cons from both sides just from my opinion I think it doesn't work well or always makes sense for the game.
Am I the only one that feels that way? If so....well fooey on you.. ;)
I really like it. However, it doesn't always make sence how we could be self training/meditating at times, depending on what we are doing in game. It's not a big problem really though. I think having an option for the ref to turn off our auto-system when we are doing stuff that wouldn't allow us to be self training at the moment could work, but not sure if it really matters.
I really like logging into my members page, clicking a button, and my pl is adjusted for the train.
Any reason why you guys don't like the auto-self training/meditating?

Consider this round a beta test like all other rounds. The changes made in the next round will adjust the game so autotraining won't result in the ridiculous fucking powerlevels we have this round.
This is all assuming I can even get the auto training to work again since I had to redo how the site's built.

I personally don't like it too much. Yeah, I use it, but it makes the game feel less personal that I'm doing things in-game without my ref. You can't play D&D without a DM, and I don't feel like it's PM without a ref.

Oh no...I think that was code for "It's not coming back."
Get we get some clarification on how you are handeling updates with training/sparring/meditating?
I assume we can only spar 3 times a day with someone. Can we also train with a master 3 times? Can we also self train 3 times? Can we also, if a namek, meditate 3 times? All in one day. Or is it pick 3 updates worth of stuff and that's it?
My understanding of it was 3 updates like that, max, per day. Either self train 3 times, or find a master to train you, or a member to spar with. Whatever equals 3 updates worth, and no more.
And meditate...well, not a clue. I started to think if you meditated 3 times you could not spar also. That's not how the auto-system works with meditate, but I think that's the only case where meditate was allowed on top of your normal 3 updates per day and/or at the same time as self training. No clue though.
I know you said you're not really limiting updates, but in a game where training and fighting is the point, I'm sure you must have some limit.

I should be able to get it all working again, it's mostly a question of time, which I haven't had a lot of outside of just updating everyone.
As far as your other question. You get to choose any combination of the three, except for Nameks, I allow them to Meditate three times and then three other turns of whatever since that's basically how the auto updating worked. My point on not limiting updates for this round was more for moving around and talking with npc's/pc's, not training, sparring, etc. And if a player had a fight, then that would be all of their updates for the day.

How are fights going to work for androids? Do they get 3 fights a day because they have no chance to train or are they just shit out of luck? I was just curious if you had thought about what the "one fight per day" thing might mean next round for androids.
Well, since they're gaining a lot more from a fight than anyone else...I'd say still limiting them to one fight a day is fine. Realistically there's no way they're even going to get one fight a day anyway. I'm thinking one or two a week, maybe three at the most.

How are androids supposed to keep up then? They can't train, as far as I know from posts they can't spar, they can't wear weighted, have no transformations, and smell funny. They're starting to sound like a nonadvantageous version of humans without dual wielding and no time freeze. What are you planning on doing for making things equal between all races for that matter? Want me to extract some information from the forums tonight and check the status of races or something for balancing?

I think the fact that training is going to give much smaller gains next round will even it out. Consider the fact that an Android will gain 60% of their opponent's powerlevel if they kill them. A normal player without any bonuses would gain 10%. As long as the Android is fighting NPC's/players that aren't too much weaker than they are, they will be doubling their powerlevel every two fights. That sounds pretty awesome to me. In fact, I think that Androids will probably gain the fastest next round. The only chance other players will have are there transformations and race-specific moves.
If you have the time, that'd be great if you did that (looking through the new race changes for balancing and all) :)

I'll try to, also whoever was talking about upgrades, besides me, i like the idea. Upgrading the absorb and ki absorb will be an interesting change for gameplay. Are any of the other races getting anything new that I haven't noticed already?

Humans/devils/duugos are, but not training/fighting wise. I think saiyans will still have a good shot at being strong with their fighting bonuses and training bonuses combined. Nameks with a percentage meditate should too. Duugos start stronger, and hopefully will get some upgrades. Humans have a good shot with time freeze if anyone ever puts the time in to find it.

It's prolly up Krillins dead ass.

Someone told me they are still able to teach/learn moves AND self train.
I thought teaching/learning a move would take up your 3 updates, leaving you no time for any kind of training, except for meditating. Is this correct? Or do we get normal updates like moving locations and teaching/learning moves, then we get 3 more for any combonation of the three trainings? Plus meditating, if namek of course.

That's where it starts to get confusing. Normally I'd say teaching/learning a move uses all updates, but with the auto training a player could train/meditate/heal while learning/teaching a move. I guess my answer for now would be you can still self train, etc. but not move locations. Sorry for the confusion...I know its been confusing for you all, its been extremely confusing for me...I promise next round will be better in all aspects. Not reffing every single player will give me more time and I won't be rushing my updates.
And about keeping the auto stuff...what happens when you guys are training in higher gravity? That would obviously have to be an email update, but then the player could potentially click the auto train as well, which isn't really fair...I dunno, I just can't really think of a good way to do it all.

Higher gravity I would tell them to click the auto-train button, then add on an appropriate amount for gravity.

Okay, but how do I know what their powerlevel was before they clicked it? The amount they would gain from training depends on their powerlevel and after clicking it how do I know which tier they were in?

I feel the reason you can't find a good way is because it doesn't work for an email based game. It is a great concept but for a turn by turn move by move email based game it just doesn't make any logical sense and that's why it keeps having so many inconsistencies.
After the last round with the pl's and self training I almost kind of stopped playing because it became pretty pointless.
I say get rid of auto train and stick with basics. When you design a graphical online game that millions of people play from around the world...then put in the auto train...lol
All in due time.....
I actually agree with you, but I think the majority of the players like it...

and the majority of americans don't know what country starts with the letter U....doesn't mean you make your decision based on them...lol...

I hear ya though just still putting my opinion out there. Pm will still be PM regardless.

I like it because it doesn't change much, and puts all players on an even playing field. You're still getting the same amount of trains you would anyway, except you're not relying on who's reffing you and how often they update, and its one less hassle for the refs to take care of.
Do you not like having to wait 6 hours between trainings? I like that, gives me something to look forward to between updates.
I was wondering what Mado thought about letting us train 3 times (Instead of a potential 4 like now) per day, but there be no waits. Have it work like meditation, you can meditate 3 times in a row for the day(Instead of having to wait hours between them). We could sign in for the day and get our 3 (Or less depending on our situation) self trainings in.
If people just don't have the time to keep up with visiting the site every few hours to train, this could help....It would also give us less of a reason to come visit the pretty site though, heh...
Reno, you already knew the reason why I like the delay between training times:D
I'd like to keep it how it is, not only to keep people coming back, but also because the more dedicated a player is, they'll get a bit of an advantage.
