hehe I like the sound of that.
Each week (I think after the 1st week) there should be a lotto drawing maybe like a D100 or a D50 to decide who wins (depends on how many tickets.) but there should be a winner each week.
Each Friday sounds good :)
now either it could be everyone in the universe is playing for the same jackpot or separate it by planets. probably depends number of players on the planets.
then you can make everyone automatically in the drawing or make them purchase tickets. i think 5 or 10 credits should be fair.
Should it be made to where each player can hold no more then 1 ticket each week? OR buy as many as you like?
I feel the jackpot should be small (giving away 1 million credits each week would be crazy) and being most things are cheaper now i feel it should be anywhere between 1,000 - 10,000cr and maybe have a second place each week. prize could be between 500cr- 5,000cr
That way no1 has a duugos spaceship early in the round
There could be a special event where the jackpot is much larger then normal.
So what do you guys think?

To be brutally honest, I hate it.
I prefer players to work for their credits.

I'm with Cloud its an ok idea but the game is based on working for everything.

your saying there is no luck involved? Last I heard there are dice rolls for many things, and you dont win a dice roll by working hard ;)

I'm not opposed to it, but here are some thoughts:
-If you are wandering around, you won't buy a lotto ticket. A lot of people won't play because of this.
-In order to find out if you won, you'd have to hang out in a city that day, killing the rest of your updates. Who would do that?
-If only a few people are doing it, would it make sense that the winner gets all the cost of the lotto tickets, plus a shop owner matching that prize (He gives the winner the same amount on top of it)?
-Why would there be a second place? In real life you win or lose. That is why it's a lottery.
I don't mind it either, but I think it should work like a normal lottery:
It doesn't matter how many people play or don't play, the odds of winning are the same. As a player you choose a number, and once a week your planet's ref rolls a 100 (or maybe 50) sided die, and if it lands on a number a player chose, they win. If more than one player chose that number, it's divided equally among them. If no one chose the winning number, the jackpot is added to next weeks jackpot, and so on and so forth. A player can buy up to a certain amount of numbers (10% of the sided die, so if it's a 100 sider, then you can buy up to 10 numbers) for x amount of credits. The only money put into the jackpot is the money players use to buy tickets. We can either have it galaxy wide or planet wide, or maybe both. But you have to buy your ticket from a shop, and you can only check/redeem your ticket from a shop.
I don't see any problems with doing it that way.

I don't know about the whole lotto deal. I agree with Cloud, you should be working for your accomplishments...not so much getting lucky for a ticket. I realize a lot is based of dice rolls but those are also dependent on your PL or abilities.
Meh, I still don't see a problem with it. They're not getting free powerlevel, just money. I know they could potentially buy weighted clothing or whatever, but the gains won't be that great next round anyway.
I dunno, unless someone can come up with a good reason not to do it, I'd like to implement it next round.

I personally like the 1week = 1 winner, but stacking the jackpots isnt all that bad.
The jackpot should have a base number of lets say 1,000 + the total cost of tickets. (maybe even higher)
Think about it, 5 people buy 10 tickets at lets say the price is 10cr per ticket thats 500cr for the jackpot? its just not worth it. and raise the ticket cost in order to raise the jackpot is no good either cause most people dont have that many credits
What if only 1 player plays that week and wins? They only get their money back? See if they'll ever play again.

In the New York lotto there usually is a second place. if you have all but 1 number or something like that. and the prize is still rather large. i have heard second place being $500,000 which is only a percentage of what you would win in 1st of course.
as for hanging out in the city to see who won, well maybe it could just be posted in the news or Forums what the winning number is. and You automatically get the money instead of having to pick it up.
It will keep things simple and running smoothly.

I think that should be up to the player to decide :)

If there are more than 40 participants, make a second place. First place gets the money people bough tickets with, plus the lottery matches 2x that. If 10 people buy 1 ticket, that's 300 credits. Doesn't need to be more than that IMO. People can buy up to either 5 or 10 tickets.
People rarely make their money back playing any sort of lottery, so if their was only one participant and they actually won, they should be happy. And I think the amount of credits spent on tickets should only be matched, not x2. 5 credits per number, max of 5 numbers, roll a 100 sided die. I'm not sure how I feel on the purchasing of numbers or the display of the winning number. On one hand I like keeping everything in game. But on the other, like Rager said, it'd be easier and smoother keeping it all on the forum.
lol, the PM lottery...what will we think of next?
