View Full Version : Tournament Brackets
For the lowest bracket, there were plenty of entries, so it should be very well matched. There weren't really enough in the mid and upper brackets, but I've balanced them as best as I could.
Newb Bracket:
Polks
Ichigo
Roku
Dash Rendar
Tufkin
Cmaster17
Regular Bracket:
Geognisis

Single elimination. On your first loss, you're put in the consolation bracket. If you lose your fight in the elimination bracket, you're out for good.

How's the consolation bracket working? Will there be a "master's consolation bracket, mid consolation, and newb consolation" or will there just be one total consolation bracket?

There will be a separate consolation bracket for each bracket.

How will the brackets with an odd number of players do the first round? Who gets to sit the first one out?

Well, like all tournaments I have been in what happens if there is an odd number of teams, the team with the best record gets to skip/bye the first round. So in this case it would probably be the strongest person in the bracket, or it might just be some random person so no one gets to know who is the strongest until the end.

I think theres some mistake, Should I be in the Legendary Bracket ;) I guess you didnt have a second fighter for it. oh well maybe next time
People fighting in the higher brackets should have better prizes. Or perhaps same prizes but more people get paid. For example, only 1st place gets paid in the lowest bracket, but in the highest bracket top 5 get paid. Or whatever. I think if two people started at the same time, and one ended up in the weakest bracket, but the other was in the highest, there needs to be some sort of consolation for this. Eh, doesn't matter...

i think it should b first and second get prizes in all brackets just cuz ur stronger doesnt mean u deserve more stuff
I just think it would be shitty if I worked very hard, but got stuck with all the best/most powerful players in the game. I'll probably lose, and make nothing from the tournament. On the other hand, someone that joined at the same time as me but didn't do shit could end up winning the lowest bracket... Doesn't seem right to me.

Yeah, that's why with the last tournament I did them by planets. Aside from a small handful of new players, the majority of the players on each planet started around the same time. I'm not really sure there's a 'fair' way to do this, unless we held a tournament where the brackets were based on join dates.
Teen Gohan
05-25-2010, 05:55 PM
One way to make things "fair" as prizes go is for example in the way we have the brackets right now.
Newb Bracket:
1st-3000 credits
2nd-2000 credits
3rd-1000 credits
Regular Bracket:
1st-6000 credits
2nd-4000 credits
3rd-2000 credits
Master Bracket:
1st-12,000 credits
2nd-8000 credits
3rd-4000 credits
These are of course just numbers that are used as an example, but the pattern is a stutter step effect. As in the person in 3rd in the bracket above will get what the person in 2nd gets in the bracket below. This will also give the people who have put the extra time and everything to get really strong more of a value to if they win.
As for what Reno said involving the long time "lazy" player who plays against people who just joined and getting prizes because of this. The best way I think to fix that is to (like Mado said) Have a tournament based around join dates. Also doing it this way you will most likely fight people around your same PL as well.
Doesn't really matter how we do it this time. One of the things I have always enjoyed about PM tournaments is that the rules are always different. So we don't have to worry about what's "fair" really. Maybe this time we use brackets, next time we don't. One time good prizes, other times not so good. Doesn't really matter. A tournament is fun no matter.

w.e I just have to beat my first opponent and I get third no matter what so go on. I should have trained more. Hey how much pl do we get from defeated opponents again?
Normal gains apply, nothing special about how they are handled for the Tournament.

05-27-2010, 09:36 PM
you gain pl for losing?

Its 7:30.... My fight is in an hour and a half... Will my Pl be reloaded?
you gain pl for losing?
"Each race (except for Androids) automatically gains 10% of the loser's powerlevel in a fight if they win. Some races, like Saiyans, automatically get an extra 25% powerlevel gain. So if a Saiyan won a battle, he/she would gain 10% of the loser's powerlevel, plus 25% of that. If you lose your battle then you don't get that 10% powerlevel gain."
Polks
05-27-2010, 09:53 PM
LOL Im a saiyan!
I don't believe there are any rules about powelevel gains for this tournament, but I think androids will only gain 10% of the losers powerlevel, because they are not killing them to absorb.

Word.. ive been talkin about a 2 v 2 for a while now! Tag team fights would be awsome! and im back from TOKYO ! so lets get it fellas! hope everyones been good!
The only problem with a team fight is that five people would need to be online at the same time (four players and one ref). I'm having a hard enough time getting two players on at the same time right now.

But really the regular bracket has 1 fight left and that's for 1st and 2nd.
Not sure about the master bracket but I'm pretty sure that one is done.
Then from what I hear the newb bracket is taking the longest, so I have no idea where they are.
