is the point of life, or anything? You go to school, so you can get a job to waste your days working the next 45 years, then you finally have the security to do... what? Everything you wanted to do was much more plausible in your 20s and 30s, but you worked or went to school through those years to get to this useful fucking point. Its the same with everything. You can learn about things as long as you want, but how long does that knowledge last? Until you start to go senile? Some things you can't remember that you learned 6 months ago. You work out to be in better physical shape, health, and for looks, but stop for two months and everything you've worked so hard for the past however many years is gone in the blink of an eye. You fall in love, build a relationship, feel great about yourself, but that can disappear in an instant, only a 1/1000 of the time it took to build up. Everything disappears and is destroyed in fractions of the time it is built up, with no guarantees it will be built back bigger, better, stronger, or to be more important or influential.

So what are we working towards, or for? The future? A 'god'? It doesn't matter what I do, my family line and nation is going to be gone in only so many generations. So is it for a god? To secure a place in heaven? I watch people who don't deserve to die pass away all the time. If they didn't believe in a god, or the right god, are they in hell? If they're in hell, do I even WANT to be in Heaven? Or does life simply cease to exist?

It leaves me with few options: either cease to exist, or go to never ending hell for not worshiping a god I won't be bullied into worshiping for fear of never ending pain and punishment. Or maybe you are reincarnated in a new body with no memories of your previous life, until your soul finally excepts the god to be your savior. Which begs the question, how many times has my stubborn soul rebuked a god?

So what is it? Reincarnation, absolute nothingness, or a never ending heaven/hell? None of the options seem right to me, nor do any of them justify the uselessness of everything you do in life, or all of the accomplishments and months or years of hard work put into your mind, body, and relationships that can be torn into pieces in mere moments.

Very philosophical, bro. Also, nice drunk post :)

Life can be shitty and pointless or it can be fun and rewarding. It just depends on how you look at it.

You ever read Ernst Hemmingway? I liked his philosophy. He basically said well maybe the whole thing is pointless. But even if it is, why wouldn't you try to live this life to the best that you can? It's your one shot, whatever happens after doesn't matter so you might as well give it your all.

I personally believe there is something after life, dunno what exactly but I think it would be weird for there to be nothing. Even if there is nothing I'm still gonna try my best to enjoy life.

I agree with every "helpful" post from everyone except tufkins. Dude ,life a grand open ended mystery you can make it into any damn thing you please, all you have to do is take your chances. Its like gambling..you take your chances and you win some and you lose some. And when you're done and you die..that's where the mystery is solved, you'll find out what heaven or hell or whatever else there is,is. That's the fucking point!

Captain grammer mc-cmaster, please go lern sum guud engrish and gamrar.

~~Fuck~~

As for you james, its as simple as this:
Murphey, Murphey, Darling Dear...
I long for you now, night and day;

OR

You could just stop whining and enjoy the good parts of life while you're stilll kickin'. You can question things all you want. Some will have answers and some will not. If it were possible for humans to know everything, we wouldn't need each other and everyone would either kill each other or exist in harmony. Shit happens, people are stupid, but the world just keeps going on. That's just how life is. You'll go crazy trying to figure the smallest thing out, it's not very hard to do.

I was just searching for an old post of mine and noticed this. I was pointing out that this is why alcohol isn't the answer, children.

Thomas: Good start, let's drive away the rabble.

:confused:How should I know, Ryujin!

:grin7: Anyway, I don't think it's that important for life to have a "purpose" generally speaking. The purpose is what you make it. Just live to the fullest and don't look back. You don't wanna be on your deathbed asking a bunch of "what ifs." Just fretting about big philosophic shit like this isn't gonna get anyone anywhere in the long run. It just confuses things. That's why I don't have much respect for philosophy, esp. as a major. It asks a lot of questions but has very few answers. Kind of like 9/11 Truthers.:rolleyes:
