Ditch Email Updates For

Any thoughts on switching from email updates to…something else? Discord?

I know email isn’t something that most people under 45/50 use much, so it can be easy to forget about reading and sending updates.

I’m not pushing for a change really, I mostly wanted to see what you all think and if we could make the experience better.

It might be due to the fact that I’m one of the few people who organizes my email, but I actually like the email string for updates.

My Discord is what actually gets bombarded with messages most of the time with how active I am on it. Email helps keep it separate, in one string, and organized better. That’s just my feelings on it.

I’m content either way. I absolutely hate GMail, and finding certain segments would be 10x easier on Discord, but either is fine. Whatever is easier for refs in my opinion.

This is the biggest thing I was thinking about when asking. Depending on which email client you use, being able to find an old update to reference something you don’t remember or a quest you want to get back to, etc. can be a pain in the butt.

@Ryujin has mentioned to me a few times that creating a system for supplying updates to players through the game/character page itself would be cool if I could get it all streamlined.

And if it could go to both an e-mail and the character page that’d be even cooler :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I’m guessing make it more convenient for phone use, too.

Edit: I’m wondering looking through all the tools you have now and combat and NPC tools Seifer has made about an entire tool/UI specifically for updates and keeping track of it all. Like a ref being able to see all their current players on the left, click on them, have useful info/stats on it, spots for notes or similar things or whatever other tools or quick buttons that might make things more fluid.

Being able to type and send the updates through the same tool, see replies and everything. It’d probably make it easier to copy/paste descriptions or images refs have sent to one player to another, too, with it all being together like that.

And it’d be REALLY cool if it could auto track stats like people fought/killed, maybe even track all the places they’ve been on the map in the past.

Awesome idea. If you guys have ideas on what should be included in a ref interface post them all here please.
